South facing slope in an east-west valley opening into the Columbia River, 7 km north of the international border with the US. The south boundary is the Beaver Creek and the North Boundary is the village of Montrose. The property is suitable for vinyard/winery or can be kept as a private nature reserve. It is one of the most diverse locations in British Columbia (trees) and there is abundant wildlife including black bear, deer,bobcats,wild turkeys,grouse, mink and river otters. The West Kootenay is the most beautiful region in the southern interior of British Columbia. There are 4 distinct seasons and in the winter the temperature is 4 degrees less than Vancouver (which allows for snow) with only 40% of the precipitation of the BC coast. There is a ski resort 25 km from gate of property (Red Mountain) and there are direct flights from Vancouver and Calgary. The property is 200 km north of Spokane, Washington USA and it is easy and inexpensive to arrange international flights from this US city. The location of the property is in the lowest elevation of the West Kootenay allowing for fantastic gardening and has the highest mean temperature in the country.
