The village has a good infrastructure with the necessary conveniences to live there. The beach is 70 m. wide; there are a campsite and a food bar. The sea is crystal.
The area of Durankulak is situated in the northernmost part of the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria around the liman freshwater lake of Durankulak - one of the best ornithological sites in Bulgaria. The word “Durankulak” has a Turkish derivation and means "ear shaped water”. To the east it is separated from the Black Sea by sand dunes and a beach strip, grown with grass formations. The southwest part of the beach is high and stony without any presence of open water surfaces. Durankulak is a transition checkpoint at the border between Romania and Bulgaria. The distance to the picturesque seashore is 4 km.; the border with Romania is on 5 km. From the village, the nearest town is Shabla – 18 km., Varna, the Sunshine capital of Bulgaria and the third by territory Bulgarian city, is 101 km. away.
