| The nearest supermarket is 'Shoppi' at Champagne Mouton just 5 minutes drive, where there is also a bakers shop, post office, school and twice-weekly open markets.
In the opposite direction, only ten minutes drive, away, is the attractive and bustling town of Ruffec. It has two supermarkets; the new super store of Leclerc & Intermarché. Twice-weekly markets are held around the town hall square and there is a myriad of smaller smart boutiques and shops.
The imposing Hotel de Ville (Town Hall, right) with its floral displays and fountains, is a focal point for the surrounding bars and bistros, where you can eat and drink; sitting at tables under the multi-coloured sun shades. There is a tourist office, new 450 seater theatre and public library, junior and senior schools, a cinema, a swimming pool and gymnasium. An added bonus for ex-pats, is the 'Cockleshell'; an English grocery store which supplies many sought-after British food items including vegetarian options!
On the newly developed estate, there are many large stores retailing clothing, hardware and decorating materials.
You are able to spend glorious days on the beautiful sandy beaches at La Rochelle or the Ile de Ré, which are about a 80 minute drive away. You could visit the famous 'Futuroscope' theme park at Poitiers, just a 45 minutes drive, which is guaranteed to give you a very interesting and entertaining day out! Not to be missed, is the nightly laser and firework spectacular at closing time!
