Area Information |
| Eastburn is located in Glenbuchat, an area of dramatic scenery. The Don Valley is remarkably beautiful and unspoilt.
Glenbuchat is part of the Cairngorms National Park. A wide variety of wildlife can be seen on a daily basis such as deer, eagles and a huge variety of birds.
Glenbuchat was a parish in the county of Aberdeenshire, in Scotland. It was created in 1845 and abolished in 1975. It was also known as Glenbucket. Glenbuchat has an active community life cantered around the Glenbuchat Hall which is jointly owned by the rate payers of the Glen. At Christmas and Hogmanay there are traditional celebrations held in the hall. The area is famed for its castles and for the annual Lonach Gathering at which Billy Connolly is a regular attendee
Glenbuchat is one of the western most parishes of Aberdeenshire, lying some 40 miles west of Aberdeen on the A944, up against the Cairngorm Mountains and the border between Aberdeenshire and Banffshire. The Waters of Bucket, which run through the Glen, form part of the headwaters of the River Don. The parish of Strathdon to the south provides most of the rest of the water to the Don, and these two parishes together are termed "The Upper Donside”.
The Glen is almost completely surrounded by hills. The entrance is through a narrow gap in the south east corner through which the Waters of Bucket exit. |
