Thumbs up Finding properties in Spain - 12-05-2004, 06:49 PM

"Homes-on-sale" list over 600 houses for sale in Spain, so do you start scrolling through them all to see what you can find ?
The simple answer is to decide which regions you might like to live in and using the "search homes" function on the left side of the screen, enter the region and click on "go". To help you, you will find a list of regions below. If your search throws up a lot of results, further refine your search to a particular province in that region. Also, have a look at some other regions - you may well find some interesting a good value for money properties.

The Spanish mainland is divided into a number of Autonomous Communities or Regions (in CAPITAL LETTERS) and each one (except some of the very small regions) is divided into provinces:

Starting in the north west of the country and working eastwards:
GALICIA: La Coruña, Lugo, Ponteverde, Orense
ASTURIAS is a one province Community
CANTABRIA is a one province Community
BASQUE COUNTRY: Alava, Guipuzcoa and Vizcaya
NAVARRA: is a one province Community
ARAGON: Huesca, Zaragoza, Teruel
CATALONIA: Barcelona, Lleida, Girona, Tarragona

Further south, from west to East
CASTILE & LEON: Segovia, Avila, Soria, Burgos, Palencia, Valladolid, Leon, Zamora & Salamanca
La RIOJA: is a one province Community
MADRID: is a one province Autonomous Community

South of Madrid from west to east
EXTREMADURA: Badajoz and Cáseres
CASTILE la MANCHA: Toledo, Cuenca, Ciudad Real, Albacete, Guadalajara.
VALENCIA: Castellon, Valencia & Alicante

In the South, from west to east
ANDALUCIA: Huelva, Cadiz, Seville, Cordorba, Malaga, Jaén, Granada and Almeria
MURCIA: is a one province Autonomous Community

It must not be forgotton that there are also the Autonomous communities of the BALLEARIC ISLANDS and the CANARY ISLANDS.

A useful website to see the regions of Spain is at:
