| The nearest small town is Liginiac (2.5km) which has a general store, post office, doctor, pharmacy, library, and junior school.
After that is Neuvic (13km) a larger town with lots of facilities: supermarket, doctor, pharmacy, restaurants, library, post office, schools.
The biggest town is Ussel (13km) in the opposite direction to Nuevic. It is a facility-rich environment including a hospital.
Neuvic Lake, and the outdoor activities centre (at the campsite), offers waterskiing, jet skiing, a sailing club, fishing, walking, cycling, horse riding and motor touring in and around the gorges of the Upper Dordogne. A 9-hole golf course overlooks the lake. In the lake and local rivers you may find roach, perch, grayling, chub, bream and possibly carp in some areas, catfish and maybe barbel.
There are plenty of walks through the woods or round the lake areas. Some are way-posted or you can just follow your feet.
An hour`s drive will take to the skiing sites of Mont Dore and Sauncy; even off-season there are some exceptional - and energetic - walks with the rewards of stunning views...or you can take the cable car. |
