Listed barn conversion in historic rural setting
|
|
About this 3 - Barn Conversion |
Barn conversion finished late 2006 in historic farm courtyard situation, now a hamlet of converted private dwellings. Surrounded by fields and some woods this is very fine walking and riding country but with comfortable access to small rural towns for good schools and modest shopping. The semi-detached building has been finished to highest specifications using oak and reclaimed materials such as flagstones, quarry tiles and mahogany. All windows and doors, the stairs and the fitted kitchen have been made by the vendors using oak, or (for the kitchen cupboards) ash. Floors are solid oak throughout except where tiles or flagstones have been laid. The kitchen, dining and living areas are open plan. The study could be used as a separate sitting room or a 4th bedroom. The main bedroom is ensuite, and there is a separate family bathroom upstairs and a cloakroom downstairs . The oak trusses upstairs are all revealed and are very beautiful. A utility room, a linen cupboard with radiator, and a boarded loft provide ample storage space. A garden runs the length of the building at the back and includes a stream. At the front of the barn a paved terrace looks over the courtyard towards the ancient church of Pilleth. Services: mains electricity and water, private septic tank.

Area Information |
| Pilleth is a former farm complex with an adjacent 14th century church, surrounded by open countryside a mile from the village of Whitton where there is a primary school. The courtyard of 4 barns and 2 houses is set well back off the road and is quiet and secluded. Shops and public libraries are to be found in Knighton (4 miles), Presteigne (4 miles) and Llandrindod Wells (15 miles). The secondary school is in Presteigne - the school bus stops at the end of the drive. The nearest major towns are Hereford (25 miles) and Shrewsbury (30 miles). This is an area of small rural communities, ideal for walking and riding. There is a surprisingly wide range of cultural activity from local film societies to summer music festivals and winter concerts. |
