| Shoebury Garrison is a former royal Artillery Garrison, built as coastal defence some 150 years ago. The original (Grade 2 listed) Victorian garrison buildings are full of character and charm, with many unusual features, due to their military heritage. The site has been developed into a residential "village" by the sea, and there are several ares of parkland, as well as a full size cricket pitch with pavillion, and nature reserve within the Garrison.
Because this is a private development, there is no coast road here, and consequently it is very peaceful and quiet. Also the few properties built near the sea are literally next to the beach, and have an uninterrupted panoramic view of the Sea, and Thames Estuary!
There is also a fishing lake/reservoir being developed, and the coastline, which is still owned by the M.O.D. is unspoilt and natural, with a wealth of sea birds for the ornothologists to enjoy.
