Island of Madeira.
The Island of Madeira is located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and occupies an area of 741 km2.
It lies 621 miles South-West of Lisbon and 497 miles west of Casablanca and the coast of Africa. It is one and a half hour by plane from Lisbon and just over three hours from London. Its delightful temperate climate varies from around 28° C in summer to a very pleasant 16° C in winter.
The name Madeira is originated from his dense forest that the Portuguese discoverers found, in their passage about the year 1420. One year later they landed in Porto Santo, the other inhabited island of the Archipelago of Madeira. There are, still now uninhabited islands that constitute rich flora reservations and fauna, nominated, the Desertas and Selvagens.
The capital is the city of Funchal, placed in the south coast of Madeira Island, with a population of 120.000 inhabitants. There are still 4 more cities: Machico, Santa Cruz, Câmara de Lobos and Santana. As all the beautiful places they have its legends and mysteries. In Machico, for example, we savoured the legend of Robert Machim's and Ana D´Arfet, a couple of shipwrecks, passionated, that would have found, in this stop, their last refuge, before the Portuguese discoverers' arrival.
Madeira is, at present, very known for his natural beauty and temperate climate.The climate makes, of this Archipelago, a very sought destiny, during the whole year.

of Madeira, in the tourist zone of Caniço de Baixo, located between the city of Funchal and Santa Cruz's city. It is a 10 km drive to Funchal, 5 km drive from the Airport and a 5 km drive Golf course Quinta do Palheiro.
