| Bignall End is a popular location and on the Northern border of Staffordshire means buyers tend to get a better deal than their neighbours in Cheshire, it is only a short drive away from the M6 and is therefore a prime location for commuters. The Cheshire towns of Crewe and Nantwich are also close at hand.
Newcastle under Lyme has a large town centre with varied employment opportunities and the city of Stoke-on-Trent is only a short drive away. There are large employment parks only 10 minutes away.
Trains: Easy access to Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe rail stations provide direct links to London and Manchester, and cross country trains to other destinations such as Chester and Liverpool (from Crewe)
Roads: Bignall end is just a short drive away from the M6 Junction for Stoke-on-Trent North. The nearby A34 gives easy access to Stafford and Stone to the South and Cheshire to the north. The A500 dual carriageway gives easy access to the Potteries, and Crewe and Nantwich.
Leisure: There are a few places to eat and drink include a range of poplular pubs such as the Plough Boughey Arms, The Plough and the Butchers Arms. Nearby Newcastle offers a varied choice of pubs and restaurants and has a vibrant nightlife.
Newcastle Borough Council provides gyms at Knutton, Kidsgrove and Newcastle, and swimming baths at Newcastle, Chesterton and Kidsgrove.
There are several golf courses in the area including Wychwood Park, a newly built championship standard course, a pay and play course at Keele, Wolstanton and Newcastle-under-Lyme golf clubs, and Alsager Golf and Country Club and there are three cricket clubs in the local area.
Audley Male Voice Choir competes in high level competitions across the UK, and the village also has a brass band. It also boasts of its own village theatre putting on regular productions. Excellent facilities close by include the New Victoria Theatre - a unique theatre in the round - at Basford, and a multi-screen cinema in Newcastle. The Lyceum Theatre, Crewe, is also easily reachable for Bignall End residents, and the Limelight, Crewe, is a well known live music venue.
Festival Park, close to Stoke-on-Trent city centre, has a multiplex cinema, bowling alley, dry ski slope - featuring a rollercoaster toboggan ride - and Waterworld, the country's most popular indoor water park.
The busy tourist attractions of Bridgemere Garden World and Stapeley Water Gardens are nearby. |
