Area Information
The Peloponnese is the southernmost geographic section of mainland Greece. Its climate is purely Mediterranean along the coasts, unlike the centre which has a relatively continental climate. Three main road networks lead to places with abundant physical beauty, important archaeological sites, land and stones testifying of other eras. Nafplio is a charming and timeless city with a spectacular waterfront, small streets and historic buildings crowned by a fortress that looks over another fort in the middle of the harbour. This sophisticated little city will certainly remind you of a more romantic age then the one we are in now. There are many ways to get to Naphlio. There are three trains daily from Athens Peloponessos Station. There are hourly buses from Athens Kiffisou street bus station. You can get information on price and times from the Greek National Tourist Organization at #6 Amerikis street in Athens but train and bus travel in Greece is very inexpensive. Rental car is a good alternative to public transport.
