Barra: Central location with lots of restaurants and bars. Home to one of the most important carnaval circuits and one of the best urban beaches in Salvador - Porto da Barra beach. Residential neighborhood and not nearly as touristy as Pelourinho - therefore avoiding most of the troublesome touts. Short taxi ride to most tourist destinatations and neighborhoods like Pelourinho, Cidade Baixa and Rio Vermelho.
