| The house is located in Schaffen, near Diest. The city of Diest is about 3 miles away and very easy to access by car, bike or even public transport. It is only 10 minutes away from the E-314 direction Leuven and Brussels and it takes about 45 minutes to drive to the east side of Brussels (where Brussels National Airport is located). The Dutch border is about 30 minutes away and very accessible as well as the E-313 is 10 minutes away. Overall you can say that the location is very central and very easy to access.
In Diest there are many private shops, superstores, bars and restaurants and overall it is a cosy little town. The size is probably comparable with Guildford in Surrey. There is an English superstore as well near Leuven and offers everything from the UK at very competitive prices (http://www.stonemanor.uk.com/)
There is a primary school only 100 meters away (teaching in Dutch - Flemish) and in Diest there are a number of high-schools. The University of Leuven and Hasselt are very easy to access by train (25 minute journey) and the station is 2 minutes away from the house.
In the immediate area there are 3 golf courses, one 9-holes and two 18 holes. In summer you can go to “Halve Maan”, a recreation park with a lot of swimming pools and an artificial beach. The race track of Zolder is very nearby; Spa-Francorchamps is about 55 minutes away.
