The House is a 2-storey building on 2.6 acres of land in Unitedville Village, Cayo District.
The Lower Level of the House is made of concrete and has two terraces; two storage rooms; a Workshop with sink and fitted cupboards; a large Utility Room with sink and fitted cupboards which is plumbed for a washing machine; a Shower Room with sink and toilet and also a Guest Bedroom. The Car Port has space for two vehicles.
The Upper Level of the House is made of Belizean Tropical Woods and consists of an open-plan living and kitchen area; store room; bathroom with shower over the bath, toilet, sink and fitted hardwood cupboards with a great view to the garden whilst bathing and a bedroom which leads out onto the deck. The deck/verandah is semi-wraparound and the main part of it is 14ft x 36ft. The Upper House is fully insulated in the walls and over all ceilings. Large ceiling fans are fitted in the main Living Area and Upstairs Bedroom. The deck takes advantage of the cooling breezes and is a great outdoor living space providing views across the Belize River Valley into Spanish Lookout.
The Garden is landscaped and fully fenced with chain-link and has an area where we make fires and have BBQ’s. There are many plants and trees some of which are: Citrus (grapefruit, lemon, lime and orange), Coconuts (dwarf, orange, tall), Bananas (palatine, bluggoes, Cavendish, apple-bananas and plantain), pineapples, cherry tree, mamee, avocado, mangoes, craboos, and many other flora. There are also many hardwood trees on the land growing naturally, like cabbage bark, etc.
Water is supplied by a 10,000 gallon concrete rainwater tank adjacent to the House over which, by design, a further large bedroom can easily be added upstairs.
Internet and telephone are available.
The house has mains electricity which runs underground from the gate to the house – there are no visible poles or wires to despoil the ambience of the house and grounds.
Garbage is collected from the gate. There are two external faucets/taps attached to the house for ease of use in the garden.
The land also has another high area behind the House which is ideal for further development, e.g. guest house, studio, palapa, etc.
Many parrots, toucans, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, orioles, chachalacas, grackles, etc. feel at home in the garden and surrounding trees and are constantly around – in fact we have tried to keep the environment so as to encourage the birds and other animals. The deck also acts as a great bird-watching venue.
