About this 2 - Unusual |
Extensive restoration terminated in 2005 of a semidetached country house with medieval stone tower, displaced on two levels. At the ground floor an open space includes a living room and a stone tower, one full bathroom with shower and a storage closet. A steel and ceramic computerized stove provides heating at this level. Two independent entrances allow access to the ground floor. A handcrafted steel and glass stairway leads to the upper floor, where the master bedroom has been set up with an electrical fireplace. The main area on the upper floor comprises a large dining room with kitchen but, thanks to the gigantic fireplace and the amazing view, we often found ourselves spending most of our time indoor right there. Another full bathroom with a large shower and a storage closet, intended to accommodate a washing machine, complete the upper level which can also be accessed directly by a separated entrance. Water and electrical systems were completely rebuilt and the kitchen is now equipped with a state of the art range and oven, microwave oven and a stylish refrigerator.
Flooring consists mostly of original “cotto toscano” from early 1900, ceilings boast the typical woodbeams and bricks pattern, while bathrooms were equipped with modern fixtures and style matching tiles. Parts of the stone walls were left showing, to preserve the original character of the property. The stone tower itself is remarkable, with a very peculiar atmosphere and enough horizontal and vertical space to allow for any desired interpretation of the space. Overall surface is ca. 90 sq.mts. The two western doors open onto the outside area overlooking the valley. Absolutely breathtaking and unlimited view. We now reluctantly have to let it go and will examine and negotiate on any motivated buyers' offer.

Area Information |
| In the heart of the Orcia Valley, a Tuscany area recently included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, lies an ancient rural community called Castiglioncello del Trinoro, where time seems to have stopped since the 14th century. This impression is not due to the absolute quiet that residents and visitors invariably enjoy; nor is it due to the breathtaking views of the untouched valley and Amiata mountain that you behold from up there. It’s probably just the lingering feeling that, except for the necessary restoration works throughout the settlement, almost nothing has changed ever since. The property is no exception. Dominating the westernmost cliff, its stone turret was part of the fortification wall, partially still visible adjacent to it, that originally enclosed the whole village.
The view from its windows is limited only by the thickness of the air, and the only sounds you can hear are either produced by birds, crickets or by the breeze blowing from the valley.
Pleasantly secluded from the nearby town of Sarteano (just a 5 km), Castiglioncello del Trinoro is also conveniently located near several interesting sites. Sarteano is an exceptionally well preserved medieval town with all kinds of attractions: restaurants, wineries, shops, markets, day and night shows, horse riding facilities, thermal water pools, etc. Only to mention a few other locations in the area: the world famous vineyards of Montalcino; the volcanic spring waters’ district of Mt. Amiata, where hot waterfalls in the woods and several thermal establishments and beauty farms receive hundreds of visitors every season; the famous village of San Casciano dei Bagni, also renowned for its thermal waters;
the enchanting city of Siena, if you are into fine arts, history, but also gourmet eating and nightlife. |
