| The houses are situated in Blanco, a suburb of George which has become very desirable of late, probably benefiting from it’s immediate proximity to Fancourt (http://www.fancourt.com/), the world famous Golf Hotel/Estate.
George Airport is 5 minutes drive and wonderful pristine beaches are 10 minutes away.
George is the sixth oldest town in South Africa. Its natural scenic beauty attracts tourists from all over the world. The town enjoys a central position between Cape Town (420 km) and Port Elizabeth (320 km). It’s road and particularly good air links to all the important centres in the country has resulted in George becoming a major distribution, education and medical hub while still retaining its small town and country atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.
George is the capital of the famous “Garden Route” which is certainly one of the most popular tourist destinations in South Africa with many hundreds of thousands of South Africans and foreigners visiting every year.
Unlike Johannesburg & other big cities, crime is hardly an issue here; on average there are only 50 household burglaries per month in a city of 150,000, no hijackings and very little violent crime of any sort. Statistically one is safer here than in most parts of the UK.
There is also a large expatriate community in the area, some retired and enjoying their pension at a very advantageous exchange rate and others, who have decided that the quality of life here is worth the move and have left the grey, overcrowded, overtaxed and over-regulated UK for a better life in the sun.
