| Divided into the two districts of El Dahar and Sekala, Hurghada has something for everybody. The old town of El Dahar, includes souks, fishermen joints and local shops, giving a taste of real Egyptian life plus excellent shopping of local artefacts. Sekala, the tourist area around the old harbour, is a hive of action with some 20 km of hotels, shopping centres, cinema, clubs, restaurants – a vibrant holiday hub where everything is open until very late at night.
Entry Visas are simple to get if you have a valid passport, passport photo and complete a simple form. Some countries citizens need to supply more information, but Egypt welcomes visitors like few other places.
Getting there: Hurghada Airport has weekly flights from six UK airports (Thursday is the busiest day). Euros and US Dollars are accepted at the airport to buy Duty Free but for a better exchange rate use Euros.
