Salmon Fishing beat - Craigellachie, Spey - Opening Week

Craigellachie Fishings is arguably the most scenic Salmon fishing beat on the river Spey. The historic 1814 Telford Bridge provides a magnificent backdrop for those fishing the Bridge pool.

Purchase of a Week 1 rod entitles the owner to fish the opening week at Craigellachie in perpetuity. The days from 11^th February (opening day) prior to Week 1 are also part of the rod owners entitlement, a net gain of 12 additional rod days over a 28 year period.

Chances of an elusive early Spring fish have proved greater in opening week; the current owner caught the 1^st Craigellachie fish of the new millennium on 19^th Feb 00 on a 2” tube fly. The beat produces fish on opening day and, on occasion, the first fish on the whole river.

The fishings extend to approximately 2½ miles. There are 2 beats, each of which is fished every day with changeover at 1pm. Each beat has a well appointed fishing hut with flushing toilet. The fishings include the services of an experienced Ghillie and owners have the use of a boat.

The Spey is almost unique in that the 2^nd, 4^th, 6^th etc. fish may be retained.
