| Saranda is situated on the shores of Ionian Sea, in front of the Greek island of Corfu and is the one of main tourist destinations in Albania. The resort is characterized by a Mediterranean climate and warm sea waters averaging 290 sunny days a year. In the summer, temperatures rarely exceed 30 degrees during the day whilst there is a refreshing sea breeze keeping the evenings cool.
Near Saranda you will find the "Blue Eye natural spring and the ruins of the ancient city of Butrint, a World Heritage Site and one of the most important archaeological finds in Albania. Also, close to Saranda is the ancient city of Finiq, which according to Edwin Jacques is found to have had one of the biggest acropolis in the ancient world, roughly 7 times larger than that of Athens.
Whilst visiting Saranda and surrounding areas you might wish to visit the archaeological site of Butrint, Ethnographic Museum, ruins of the ancient town of Onhezmi in Saranda, the ancient temple and other ruins of Foi* in Finiq village, the small Castle of Ali Pasha in Vrine village, the Church of Saint Kolli in Mesopotam village as well as the beautiful Ksamili Islands.
Economic Information:
Albania signed the SAA (Stabilization and Association Agreement) in June 2006. The SAA represents an important economic and political opportunity and marks the beginning of a new phase in the EU's relations with Albania paving the way of EU membership in 2014.

1) An Arab Consortium, represented by investors from Dubai and Qatar plan to invest up to USD 1 billion to develop a tourist complex along the northern coastline in Albania. This investment will cover the construction of tourist premises, conference hall, aqua-marine park, tourism training centre and school of tourism. There will be additional infrastructure, including hotels, cinemas and recreation centres. The Albanian Government has guaranteed its support towards the investment.
2) Bankers Petroleum Limited, a Canadian firm plans to invest millions in Albania's oil sector. This promises to turn the country into an "upgraded oil exporter" source www.setimes.com
