The outer ground floor walls are of the traditional double wall with rubble fill type, around 60 cms thick. The second floor was added in the Edwardian era, giving the house its current frontspeice look.

The borders are full of bluebells in the spring, the pink cherry blossom comes in May, buddlea and butterflies during the summer and a delightful bronzed umbrella tree in autumn. There is a large crop of blackcurrant this year, also blueberries, tomatoes, quince and wild strawberries.
