| Whitehills is a small fishing village on the Moray Firth, near to Banff (former county town of Banffshire) in rural Aberdeenshire. It has a range of facilities including a Post Office, Library, Primary School, Church, Restaurant/Pubs, Convenience Store, World-famous Fish shop (Downies - see http://www.downiefish.co.uk) and Yachting Marina (see www.whitehillsharbour.co.uk). A wide variety of seabirds can be seen along with the Firth's famous dolphins and occasional whales; the area's geology is also particularly interesting. The village enjoys a regular bus service to Banff, Aberdeen, Elgin and Inverness.
Shopping facilities and secondary schooling are available in nearby Banff (approx 4 miles). Nearby attractions include Macduff Marine Aquarium (www.macduff-aquarium.org.uk) and Duff House (www.duffhouse.org.uk). There is also a golf course beside Duff House. Boyndie and Banff Links beaches are popular with surfers and there is ample opportunity for sea fishing and coastal walking. Whitehills makes an ideal base for exploring the Whisky Trail. |
