the stretch of coast from Nervi to Pieve Ligure (6 km.) enjoys a particularly mild climate: in warm months
due to regular breezes, while in cold months due to a particular orographical conformation of hills behind and
absence of valleys.
Cold months are usually characterized by cold air flows from North; these currents are "diverted" by the
orographical conformation so as to "fall" at a distance from the coast. The phenomenon is detectable by the
change in colour and ripples on the sea and by local temperature of 3 or 4 centigrade higher then bordering
places.
Indeed, this particular orographical conformation maintains the zone sheltered from direct cold wind, while
the higher and heavier cold air currents compress the "bottom bubble" causing the increase in temperature,
so much so, that you can enjoy citrus plants that usually grow only in warmer climates. |
