STRATEGIC AND ECONOMICAL
INTEREST IN NORTH EAST REGION
General presentation
The city of Bacau has a surface of 43,2 square km, being the largest city from the county. It is situated 9km away North-East from the intersection of two rivers, Siret and Bistrita, being one of the biggest and most important cities from Moldova.
Also, Bacau city is situated at the intersection of terrestrial and airway communication ways. The road and railroad network of national and European interest cross the city from North-South and East-West.
Bacau is crossed from North to South by the European road E85 (DN2 that is part of the Pan European Corridor Nr.IX) and links Bucharest with the North side of the country, being at the same time the main corridor that crosses Moldova towards Greece, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Russia.
In the territorial systematization plan of Romania, regarding the road system, the high way Bucharest Suceava Ukraine will also cross through Bacau city. In the same project it is included the high way Tg. Mures Piatra Neamt Roman Iasi.
If we take into consideration the construction in the following period of the two roads that will go around Bacau and Roman, it is forecasted that the distance between Bacau and the high way Tg. Mures Iasi will be around 20 or 25 km.
The city of Bacau will also have access towards the high way that links the South to the North of the country, as well as the one from West to East.
The national road DN 2F links Bacau with the city of Vaslui towards the East, and towards the West Bacau communicates through the national road DN 11 (E577) with the city of Brasov.
This way it is made the connection with the corridors towards Hungary, Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Spain.
DN 15 links Bacau with Piatra Neamt and with the areas of tourist interest, and the connection between Bacau and Moinesti and Comanesti is made by the national road DN 2G.
The airway connection with the capital of the country and with the exterior is offered by Bacau International Airport, that also has a centre for directing international flights that open the ways towards the entire world.
The city of Bacau is a an important railway node, with modern infrastructure for the person and merchandize transport. The investments for accomplishing the objective EuroStation Bacau are in development. |
