It has also been proven by the William Harvey Institute for Cardio-Vascular Research in London that Tannat is particularly rich in the types of poly-phenols that protect blood vessels from harmful deposits thus it can be marketed to upscale, trendy, health conscious wine drinkers. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc are also produced here. There are ready wine markets in nearby Punta del Este, Buenos Aires, and cities along the Brazilian coast.
